Trail building instruction

I have been involved with Trail Fund NZ since 2014. The main reason I joined was to help develop and rollout a set of trail building courses for volunteers. The main goals of these courses is to create useful members of a trail crew, whilst ensuring they can work safely. Over the last 8 years I have runs courses for clubs and city councils up and down the country and taught skills to hundreds of people.

If you have a crew that needs some skills, then get in touch and we can right size some training for your team.

Mountain bike skills instruction

I have been teaching mountain bike skills to all ages since 2013. Building on my PMBIA level 1 qualification, I have also completed a NZ Certificate in Outdoor Leadership (Instruction) in Mountain Biking.

I am open to contract work for organisations that have their Adventure Activates Accreditation.

IT for adventure activities

Let’s be honest, bits of paper suck. They get wet, ripped and worst of all lost. I have helped organisations such and WORD and Peak Safety make the most out of common, no code software solutions to lower the overhead and costs of sharing and collecting data.

My expertise includes:

  • Google AppSheet - for no code interactive mobile applications with out the need for expensive developers or deployments

  • Google Classroom - how to make the most out of the features you are already paying for with your Google for business account to ensure that you staff training records are up to date and easily auditable.

  • Jotform - using powerful forms to capture content in the field, including adding in complex logic, drawing in data form multiple sources and setting up various notification triggers.

  • Documentation - for both your staff and your administrator to manage these systems.

My goal is set you up and give you the skills to manage these systems your self.

Governance and consultation

During both my 5 years as secretary at the Wellington Mountain Bike Club, and my ongoing involvement with Trail Fund, I have learnt the ins and outs of engaging in public consultation, in particular with local councils, central government agencies such as DoC and Ngo’s such as Recreation Aotearoa and other national bodies.

Event organisation and management

My expertise is in running club scale events. Back in 2011, I started an enduro race at my local trail centre, the following year I started the first Wellington Enduro Series. For 5 years I ran the bulk of these events as a volunteer, handing over races to others as they showed interest, and setting up a series that has gone from strength to strength under the current leadership at the Wellington Mountain Bike Club.
